Neither side could find the back of the net in the first half at the James Molatsi Stadium as the first period ended goalless, but man of the match Reyaad Pieterse had to be on top form to keep out a rampant Stars side that also hit the woodwork twice.
Matsatsantsa coach Stuart Baxter made a double substitution at the start of the second half as Jeremy Brockie and Thuso Phala joined the fray in place of Cole Alexander and Mandla Masango.
But it was the some side that continued to create the better chances in the second half – all of which were missed – with substitute Allen Nono missing a gilt-edged chance to claim all three points in stoppage time.
Moeketsi Sekola hit a fierce, swerving shot from distance, Pieterse parried, but Nono could only blaze over the bar from close range right at the death with the goal at his mercy.
It was a let-off for SuperSport, who despite their good form this season have only managed two wins on the road - their last five away games have resulted in five stalemates.
The result leaves SuperSport two points behind leaders Bidvest Wits and Cape Town City, while Ea Lla Koto are just a point above the drop zone.
