KickOff.com can confirm that Robyn Johannes is no longer a free agent, having found a new club.
The former Cape Town City, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates player was a free agent after his previous club Bidvest Wits settled following the termination of his contract, and he has now penned a deal with rookies Stellenbosch FC.
A source close to Stellies confirmed Johannes’ capture to our website: “It’s official,” said the source.
“Robyn has signed on the dotted line. It’s a two-year contract with the option to renew."
The 33-year old Johannes is undoubtedly a good buy for coach Steve Barker and his Stellies troops. It’s also no secret that Barker is a great admirer of the Cape Town-born defender.
Barker also recruited Johannes a few seasons ago when he was at the helm of AmaZulu.
The well-travelled Johannes will in all likelihood be paired up with the experienced Morgan Gould in Stellies’ central defence and could make his debut for their away clash against Bloemfontein Celtic.
