5 Chiefs options for huge Downs clash

Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has a massive selection poser for this week's all-important Absa Premiership encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Chiefs will host their main title rivals at Orlando Stadium on Thursday (18h00) as the two battle for supremacy in the race for the championship trophy.

Sundowns will come into the clash without defender Ricardo Nascimento, who was red-carded in their draw with Maritzburg United last Friday, while Amakhosi striker Samir Nurkovic received his fourth yellow card of the season and will serve a one-match ban.

With their top goalscorer set to miss out, Middendorp has indicated that Leonardo Castro, who has contributed seven goals this season, is also a doubt for the clash as he nurses an injury that recently forced him off after just 27 minutes against Stellenbosch FC.

With the duo having been a cornerstone of the team's success of being top of the table since their second fixture of the campaign back in August last year, the German tactician will have to tweak his approach to make his remaining options more effective.

The Glamour Boys may have to look to Lazarous Kambole, who would have had his confidence heavily boosted after netting his first PSL goal at the weekend, while Khama Billiat is no stranger to leading his team's attack as he did during his days at Sundowns.

Other makeshift options include striker-come-midfielder Bernard Parker, while wingers Dumisani Zuma and 17-year-old Keletso Sifama could assist as support-strikers.
