A respected figure in South Africa believes off-form Thembinkosi Lorch still has a huge contribution to make to Orlando Pirates' chase for silverware.
Players who have won the Absa Premiership Footballer of the Season award have either moved overseas or stayed in the PSL to deal with the pressure of raised expectations.
Pirates star Lorch is currently in that phase of trying to repeat what he did in the 2018/19 season but it has not been easy, with the campaign to date proving a big disappointent by the standard he has set for himself.
Top development coach Farouk Khan, who is also a pundit and former Kaizer Chiefs assistant, believes what is happening to Lorch can happen to any footballer.
"He hasn't been impressive of late," Khan tells KickOff.com.
"I mean when Thembinkosi Lorch was in form he was a player I'm sure every club would've looked to sign, including some clubs in Europe.
"I think he has gone through at bit of a bad patch of late. You can see that Lorch is the type of player that at any given moment he can make things happen."
At the beginning of the season there was talk about Bafana Bafana's hero against Egypt moving overseas, but a move never materialised.
Khan believes as much as a new challenge would be good for Lorch, remaining at Pirates would also be good for him as he can still achieve huge things and help restore the Sea Robbers to their former glory.
"Maybe if he decides to move on, if there's any offers, maybe that could be a change that could reinvent his career," Khan adds.
"But I do still believe that at Orlando Pirates he could still contribute positively in a big way."
