Kadodia explains double coach exits

Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia has revealed his reasons to change coaches so many times last season, which almost relegated the club.

The Team of Choice sacked two coaches in the space of a month, first Fadlu Davids and then Muhsin Ertugral, which raised many questions about their way of managing success after finishing in the top four and reaching a cup final in the previous season.

Kadodia has decided to come out and give his side of the story on what really led to him to change two coaches in one campaign.

"Fadlu requested a player to close a gap left by Lebohang Maboe. He then identified Yannick Zakri, who didn't do well under him even though we spent lot of money on him, and results were not coming. We had to do something and try new things to save our situation," Kadodia explained.

"We then got Muhsin Ertugral, hoping for the best, but unfortunately things didn't go well under him too. As you know he's one of those coaches who is passionate about winning and when things don't go his way he reacts, which made things worse for the club.

"I think Muhsin didn't get my message clear when I told him the situation we were in. Players needed motivation, not to shout at them, and we had to part ways before things got ugly."

Kadodia then spoke about the changes Tinkler made to the team, which helped them survive automatic relegation on the last day of the season to qualify for the playoffs.

"Coaches are judged on results and how they deal with pressure," he added. "Tinkler changed the whole mood in the team and the style of play. He gave players like [Fortune] Makaringe freedom to play and attack, which benefited the whole team."
