The 21-year-old has featured in the club’s second team, who play in the second tier of that country’s football.
The central midfielder has been one of the regulars for the side this season, making his eighth appearance at the weekend as the club lies in mid-table.
He has been roundly praised for his performances and could be edging closer to an appearance for the first team.
He sees the move as a stepping to bigger things, having begun his senior career with National First Division side Milano United in the 2013/14 season.
Phete is another product of Farouk Khan’s Stars of Africa Academy, along with the likes of May Mahlangu, Tokelo Rantie and Sibusiso Khumalo.
Phete signed for Vitória from third-tier Tourizense at the start of this season having been one of five South Africans playing at the club in the last campaign.
Pule Maraisane has since moved on to the Swedish second-tier with GAIS, but others who were there are defender Thamsanqa Ngobeza, and midfielders Tshepo Matsemela and Tlotlo Leepile.
