Lebese sent home from TTM

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns winger George Lebese is no longer with TTM, head coach Dylan Kerr has confirmed.

Lebese was announced as a new TTM signing last month after terminating his contract with USL side Colorado Switchbacks but has been unable to register with the DStv Premiership club.

With the 32-year-old having cancelled his contract outside the registered FIFA transfer window, he's been deemed ineligible to register with the Nedbank Cup finalists.

"As far as I know George is no longer with us due to his work visa. We can’t get a FIFA clearance for him. So I think George agreed, I don’t know because I’m not seeing him," Kerr said ahead of the Chippa United showdown this weekend.

"I think George has gone home and I don’t know if he’s still part of TTM, but I can understand his frustration, when he came, he was way off the pace.

"I mean we'd be risking serious injury if we did play him in a competitive game because he's not been training and he has not played [a match] since November.

"So he was a long way short of the rest of the squad and we tried very very hard to get his ITC, but the legalities of it in America... he was already contracted to that club, he wasn't really a free agent, so we couldn't really sign him."

Lebese scored two goals and registered as many assists in 16 games across all competitions during his solitary season abroad.
