Pirates make decision on new signing

Premiership

KickOff.com has gathered that Orlando Pirates are planning to bring striker Evidence  Makgopa to Johannesburg this coming season.

Pirates are understood to have signed Makgopa a few weeks ago from Baroka and loaned him back to Bakgakga for the 2021/22 season.

The 21-year-old star was earlier linked with Mamelodi Sundowns and an unnamed team in Greece before going to the Olympic Games with the South Africa Under-23 side earlier this month.

However, with Pirates facing a crisis up front ahead of the Carling Black Label Cup clash against Kaizer Chiefs this weekend, the terms of the transfer agreement could now be changed.

Both Zakhele Lepasa and Tshegofatso Mabasa have been ruled out of the Soweto Derby to be staged behind closed doors at Orlando Stadium on Sunday.

The Buccaneers could therefore start the new season thin in their strike force, with Gabadihno Mhango the only recognised striker remaining in their squad.

Pirates have since loaned out winger Monnapule Saleng to Swallows FC, shortly after he signed from Free State Stars during the off-season.

Also going out on loan to the Dube Birds is Zambian midfielder Austin Muwowo, who failed to break into the starting line-up for the past two seasons.
