Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has revealed the key components the league leaders have been working on to ensure they keep dominating.
Amakhosi have been the team to beat this season and have opened up a 10-point lead at the top of the Absa Premiership, meaning the bullseye on their backs gets larger after every win.
Nevertheless, Middendorp's side have managed to sweep aside nearly all their opponents so far this season and have won 10 out of 12 league matches.
The one major disappointment so far was getting knocked out of the Telkom Knockout semifinals by Maritzurg United.
But a 4-0 victory over Stellenbosch last week has lifted the spirits again and kept up the momentum they had built prior to the cup defeat.
"We regrouped immediately after the [Maritzburg] game on Sunday," Middendorp said on the club's website.
"We went on to deal with forward movements and our passing game. Moving and passing form part of a successful game.
"Tactically, we’ve recently seen opponents close us down quickly. We’ve had to work on the players that would take on opponents in one-on-one situations."
The German tactician is also pleased about his side's growing strength on set-pieces, which has helped contribute more goals this season.
"Our set-piece work is one of our strong points. We go into set-pieces with intensity. We have all the ingredients to be successful in set-pieces. It’s a crucial element in modern football," he explained.
"Football is quite easy. Don’t concede and contribute to scoring. We play with passion and energy, and that’s what we need."
