Maritzburg United have confirmed the return of Ernst Middendorp as head coach just days after sacking Eric Tinkler.
Middendorp resigned at Ethiopian giants Saint George on Tuesday evening less than two months into his three-year contract, citing the sectarian violence in the country as one of the key factors behind his decision.
As first revealed by KickOff.com, the 56-year-old has now been roped in for his fourth stint at the DStv Premiership outfit, who had earlier handed the temporary reins to former Bafana Bafana winger Delron Buckley.
During his last stint in the Premier Soccer League, the German tactician led Kaizer Chiefs for a period of 21 months during which he led the club to a Nedbank Cup runners-up finish and within minutes of a league championship last season.
