Maritzburg United coach Eric Tinkler is set to negotiate a new contract with the club after securing Absa Premiership survival.
Tinkler joined United in January when the team was down and out but has managed to keep the club in the top-flight via the promotion/relegation playoffs, which they won convincingly against Royal Eagles and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
"I'm very very proud of the team, from the players to the chairman, they deserve this win, and also the fans were unbelievable," he said after clinching the playoffs with a 2-0 win over Royal Eagles on Wednesday.
"Definitely there's no reason not to stay with this club but there are still negotiations that have to happen between me and the club."
Tinkler was then asked about his motivation for joining the club and also the professionalism of his players as some have been approached by so many clubs.
"Believe it or not, the first time I was asked to join this club I said no, but I needed to sit and watch a couple of their games then decided that this team can survive," he added.
"Players were professional throughout our fights, I commend them for that."
