Tinkler working on ‘towing the bus’


In the 1-0 defeats to Ajax Cape Town in the MTN8 and SuperSport United in the League, the Buccaneers struggled to break down defences and create clear-cut chances.

It’s been a different situation in the CAF Confederation Cup, where the attacking nature of opposing teams have suited Pirates’ style of play.

"Every competition and every team we play is completely different,” Tinkler says.

"Against Leopards we played against a team that had to come at us. We knew that they would. But when we play in the PSL 99 percent of the teams sit back and wait for us and make it difficult to try and break them down.

“It is about us trying to open them up and we have been creating chances, it's just been difficult to put them in the back of the net."

And Tinkler says he has a plan should Bloemfontein Celtic play a defensive game in their match tonight.

"We managed to do that against Chippa and now we must do that against every other team we play."
