Amakhosi football manager Bobby Motaung has confirmed their intentions to release Manqele, as well as Siphelele Mthembu, pending settlement negotiations with both the players.
“Manqele and Mthembu have had ample time to exert themselves in the team,” Motaung told his club's wesbite. "Unfortunately things didn’t go as anticipated.
"Therefore, we are busy negotiating an exit deal with the two players. We hope everything will go smooth and the two players will have a chance to continue their careers elsewhere.”
Manqele's current contract runs out at the end of June 2018 and, according to a reliable source, the club have offered him three months' salary to terminate his contract.
The 29-year-old, however, is believed to be disgruntled with the offer and is expected to meet with Motaung this afternoon, in a bid to reach an agreement.
"Both parties are not finding common ground. Jabu [Manqele] is not happy with the money Chiefs are offering him as a settlement," said the source.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns frontman managed just one goal in 23 appearances for the Soweto giants since joining them 18 months ago from Chippa United.
