Orlando Pirates got back to winning ways the DStv Premiership after cruising to a 3-0 victory over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila on Wednesday evening.
Pirates made three changes from the draw with Swallows, as Innocent Maela came in for the suspended Thulani Hlatshwayo in central defence while Vincent Pule and Gabadinho Mhango were restored to the attack.
The Buccaneers were on the front foot early on, which resulted in Deon Hotto opening the scoring in the first quarter of an hour with a close-range strike into a gaping net after his initial shot was blocked on the line from Pule's square pass.
However, Thabo Rakhale came close to finding the equaliser on the half-hour mark against his former side after beating the offside trap to go clear on goal but his chip over goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands came off the crossbar.
Mhango punished TTM for a high line six minutes before the break as he doubled the lead for Josef Zinnbauer's charges with a low strike past shot-stopper Washington Arubi after a through ball by Thembinkosi Lorch.
The Soweto giants were threatening to put the game to bed after the break and Fortune Makaringe eventually made it 3-0 in the 65th minute with a first-time side-footed shot from the edge of the box towards the far post after he was teed up by Lorch.
Mhango thought he had made it 4-0 for Pirates two minutes later with a close-range finish into an emty net after taking the ball out of Arubi's grasp on the ground but the goal was disallowed for offside in the build-up.
Edgar Manaka came close to getting a consolation goal for TTM in the last 12 minutes with a looping strike from the edge of the box that was tipped over the bar by Sandilands and Pirates were comfortable in the closing minutes as they clinched a 3-0 win that restored their fourth position on the log.
