SuperSport United stretched their unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership to eight games after playing to a 1-1 draw with AmaZulu at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday.
Siya Nhlapo came in for the injured Teboho Mokoena in the only change to the SuperSport starting XI, while AmaZulu made four changes to their starting lineup.
Early pressure came from Usuthu, Sibusiso Mabiliso's ball flashed across the box and it went out for a goal kick.
Soon after, Ghampani Lungu's solid effort forced Veli Mothwa into a save as Matsatsantsa responded.
SuperSport then won their first corner. Mbule swung it in and Lungu got a head to it but it was straight into the arms of Mothwa.
Usuthu took the lead slightly against the run of play through Siphelele Mthembu with a well struck right footed strike after he was assisted by Luvuyo Memela.
Augustine Mulenga got into the game on the stroke of half-time as he shot from the edge of the box, with Ronwen Williams getting down to save.
Matsatsantsa had an early chance in the second half as Grobler crossed accurately for Thamsanqa Gabuza but the header sailed over.
Kaitano Tembo's side finally equalised in the 76th minute when Gabuza was brought down in the box before Grobler made no mistake from the spot.
Grobler then had a chance from a tight angle but Mothwa saved at the near post to deny the DStv Premiership's top goal-scorer.
