Gallants punish struggling Baroka

Premiership

Marumo Gallants piled more misery on Baroka FC after registering a 3-0 win at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday evening.

King Ndlovu and Ayanda Nkili came in as Gallants’s changes, as Ananias Gebhardt, Dan Ndlovu and Richard Mbulu returned from Baroka’s loss to Kaizer Chiefs.

A gruelling opening ten minutes from particularly the host resulted in defender Lehlohonolo Nonyane needing treatment and bandage on the head following a collision.

Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele carried a run of two straight defeats to Sekhukhune United and Kaizer Chiefs into this encounter, and had a change minutes to halftime in Thamsanqa Masiya for Ndlovu.

Marumo, who seemed to have picked up consistency prior to this fierce Limpopo rivalry, have not lost in three of their past encounters on all fronts and trusted their instinct.

As the first half concluded, Bahlabane Ba Ntwa were granted a flying start to the second period and received a penalty-kick which saw Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo step up and convert.

It got worse for Bakgaga who then had to play the remainder of the match with ten players on 62 minutes as midfielder Bennet Bobete got dismissed for a second bookable offence.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa’s dominance continued and went on to grab a second five minutes later through former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates man Joseph Molangoane.

Kgoloko Thobejane looked to orchestrate a comeback following the latter exchanges, as Ntiyiso Bombi entered for Athenkosi Dlala and Kgodiso Monama thrown on for Evidence Makgopa.

Though, it didn’t yield the desired effect as Marumo bagged a third through Ndlondlo who subsequently completed his brace deep in additional time.

In the end, the host marched to a comprehensive victory and solidified 11th spot whilst worsening Bakgaga’s plight against the drop.
