Orlando Pirates and Golden Arrows settled for a share of the spoils following their goalless draw on Saturday afternoon.
Three new faces for the Buccaneers came into the Pirates line-up, as Bandile Shandu, Ntsikelelo Nyauza and Collins Makgaka were handed starts, as Arrows showed just one change in Mthokozisi Dube, who is on loan from the Soweto giants.
Abafana Besthende posted the first threat minutes in with Nduduzo Sibiya dragging a low square ball from the left-side narrowly beyond the near corner after a dummy by Michael Gumede.
Pirates though came alive not long thereafter and had a powerful strike outside the area by Makgaka following a one-two with Fortune Makaringe coming off the post.
Following an even spell, the Buccaneers found the woodwork again on this occasion through a sharply taken free-kick outside the area by Deon Hotto three minutes to halftime.
After a disappointing first stanza, the Buccaneers entered the second half by making a substitution with Abel Mabaso withdrawn in favour of Thabang Monare.
Abafana Besthende enjoyed a large period of time in the Buccaneers third, but received no joy this as the Sea Robbers applied a low defensive block.
The frustrations for both of the outfits continued, with the Sea Robbers throwing on DStv Diski Challenge graduate Boitumelo Radiopane for his debut near the latter exchanges.
Both sides enjoyed chances to snatch the winner late on, but there was none forthcoming thus it finished goalless.
