Golden Arrows ended a run of five games without a win in the DStv Premiership after defeating ten-man Baroka 3-2 on Sunday afternoon.
Arrows missed Knox Mutizwa, but called on Pule Mmodi and Michael Gumede as Baroka chased a winning start under the returning Kgoloko Thobejane with Evidence Makgopa up top.
The host made the opener eleven minutes on the clock after Siphelele Magubane pounced on a loose ball from a spill by Oscarine Masuluke to head into an empty net.
Abafana Besthende could’ve added a second within minutes through Nqubeko Dlamini’s thumping strike from Nduduzo Sibiya’s layoff that cannoned against the crossbar.
Lehlohonolo Seema’s men eventually grabbed two goals three minutes from the half-hour mark when Mmodi finished off a telling move from Magubane and Gumede.
Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele began to come into the game, but Arrows still managed to see the lion share of chances as Sibiya’s low shot with only Masuluke to beat saw the latter parry the attempt.

In the second half, Abafana Besthende continued to provide the lion share of the attacking stimulus as Magubane pulled a smart shot wide.
The host were then forced to put on a substitution 12 minutes following the second stanza after Magubane went out and Siboniso Conco entered.
Bakgaga gradually kept plugging away near the closing quarter after Richard Mbulu finished off an opportunity from continuous pressure play.
However, Thobejane’s men were down to ten players inside the last ten minutes when the self-same Mbulu earned a straight red card for dissent.
The travelling team weren’t bothered by the dismissal as Denwin Farmer capitalised on persistent play to bury in the equaliser with a decent finish.
Although, the host secured the winning goal from the penalty spot ten minutes from time as Sibiya executed with ease from 12-yards out after Conco went down in the area.
