Leopards & TTM share the derby spoils

Premiership

Limpopo rivals Black Leopards and Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila cancelled out each other with a 1-1 draw in the DStv Premiership on Wednesday afternoon.

Leopards were unchanged from the impressive 2-2 draw against Kaizer Chiefs, whereas Tshakhuma came with three changes in Thabo Rakhale, Miguel Timm and Mogakolodi Ngele.

Lidoda Duvha posted the first threat in the earlier exchanges when a speculative shot from outside the area by Roderick Kabwe put Tshakhuma goalkeeper Washington Arubi in a spot of bother.

Arubi was under more pressure a little later after a teasing ball towards the bottom-corner from Rodney Ramagalela forced the former University of Pretoria goalkeeper to palm for safety.

Leopards were forced into a substitution four minutes before the half-hour mark, as goalkeeper King Ndlovu couldn’t carry on playing before being replaced by Jonas Mendes.

Lidoda Duvha should’ve been a goal behind ten minutes to halftime when Rakhale played a one-two in the area with Manzini before dragging narrowly wide of the mark.

However, Leopards seized control in the last minute of the first half after an expertly taken penalty from Kabwe gave Arubi no chance after Rakhale fouled Matome Makobela in the area.

Tshakhuma started the second half with two attacking changes in Celimpilo Ngema and Lerato Lamola before Rhulani Manzini narrowly curled past the bottom-corner.

Manzini missed a clearer chance to put his side level on 51 minutes after wrapping his foot around a low ball from the right-side only to balloon over the top.

The bulky forward kept going midway in the second half and levelled it up with a curling low free-kick, identical to his last against AmaZulu.

Manzini had Lidoda Duvha under his spell shortly before fulltime after steering a free-kick from range into the side-netting, while Edwin Gyimah headed wide at the other end as it finished 1-1.

Confirmed line-ups:

Leopards: K. Ndlovu, Makobela, Khumalo, Gyimah, Douhadji, Abubakar, Mthethwa, Karuru, Ramagalela, Makgetlwa, Kabwe.
