TS Galaxy continued their surge up the DSTv Premiership standings courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Black Leopards on Saturday evening.
Veteran Lehlogonolo Masalesa returned from the loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, with Ovidy Karuru and Roderick Kabwe surviving from the last-gasp set-back against the champions.
Galaxy made the first foray through a telling ball from Luckyboy Mokoena in the opening exchanges, but Wayde Lekay failed to cap off the delivery.
Lidoda Duvha started to come forward following the midway period of the first half and could’ve gone ahead through a flawless move from Kabwe, but Marlon Heugh smothered.
The Rockets grabbed the lead ten minutes to the break as Lekay made full use of a rebound from a missed penalty by Mxolisi Macuphu to fire into an empty net.
Lehlohonolo Seeema went to the substitutes bench after halftime and introduced Ethen Sampson for Tebogo Makobela.
However, the Rockets bagged a second goal ten minutes from the restart through Bathusi Aubaas, who pounced on a loose ball outside the area to fire in a scorcher.
Leopards looked to get back in as the half went along, but the Rockets were hell-bent on giving a sniff at goal with the match poised.
Owen Da Gama’s men ensured all the points with a powering header from Macuphu 15 minutes from a ball by Lindokuhle Mbatha, with Leopards seeing Sibongiseni Mthethwa dismissed.
The victory sees the Rockets jump to tenth spot, three points adrift a spot in the top-eight as Lidoda Duvha go rock-bottom.
