Leopards pile more misery on Maritzburg

Premiership

Black Leopards got their first victory in the DStv Premiership with a 1-0 triumph over struggling Maritzburg United.

Rodney Ramagalela, Onyedikachi Ononogbu and Joseph Douhadji were handed starts for Leopards while United finally had Zambian goalkeeper Sebastian Mwange in goal.

Lidoda Duvha came to game looking for their first point on the board after parting ways with Belgian coach Patrick Aussems, as Morgan Shivambu took charge on the day.

The Team of Choice were in a similar situation after losing all their three league matches so far except that they have stuck with their coach Eric Tinkler.

The sides could not create clear openings in the first stanza and as a result, they went to the break without goals on the scoreboard.

However, Leopards settled the better of the two sides coming from the break as Ramagalela eventually broke the deadlock 11 minutes inside the second stanza with his first goal of the season.

Shivambu made a double change in the last 20 minutes as Thabiso Mokoena came on for Ramagalela and Themba Ndlovu replaced Ononogbu.

Maritzburg were pressurising Leopards in the closing stages but they could not crack their defence as Lidoda Duvha held on to get their first win of the season while United lost their fourth straight match.
