Swallows reclaim second spot

Swallows FC reclaimed second spot on the DStv Premiership table with a 1-0 victory over Baroka FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.

Dube Birds head coach Brandon Truter made one change to his starting lineup, bringing in Sifiso Hlanti for the injured Thabo Matlaba.

Most notably for Baroka, Zimbabwe international Elvis Chipezeze returned between the sticks in place of Oscarine Masuluke.

The visitors had more of the possession but Baroka were holding a firm defensive line and getting plenty of men behind the ball.

In the 41st minute, Swallows' talisman Lebohang Mokoena brought out a low save from the keeper with a fizzing drive.

Two minutes later, Mokoena had another shot that was saved by Elvis Chipezeze in the Bakgaga goal.

Swallows were awarded a penalty in the 57th minute and Ruzaigh Gamildien took his tally to eight for the season as he made no mistake from the spot.

Bakgaga boss Thoka Matsimela responded to his team going behind by bringing on Tshidiso Patjie, Jemondre Dickens and Nhlanhla Mgaga.

But it was to no avail as the men from Limpopo slumped to defeat and fell to ninth position in the standings.
