'Draws are not good enough'

Benni McCarthy urged his AmaZulu side to turn their consecutive draws into wins by converting their chances in front of goal after being held by Maritzburg United in a DStv Premiership clash on Sunday.

The Team of Choice scored late at the Harry Gwala Stadium in the 86th minute after Luvuyo Memela gave Usuthu an early lead in the 11th minute.

The result was the third consecutive draw for McCarthy's side who urged his side to turn the draws into wins.

"We get to rue our misses with three games and three draws," McCarthy said post-match.

"We'll just have to go back to the drawing board and thankfully we have a week to our next match to recover.

"We really need to pick up wins as draws ain't good enough and we're starting to look a little like Swallows of last season.

"So hopefully we can turn the draws into wins."

AmaZulu next welcome high-flying Royal AM to the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium for a DStv Premiership clash on Saturday.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
