Professional football players are also human, and they all have or had that one person they call Dad.
Father's Day is celebrated worldwide as a day to honour fatherhood and the paternal bond, an opportunity to tell your dad how much you love and appreciate him.
To celebrate this day, we reveal a few of these 'old-timers' who fathered our favourite stars in the gallery above!
Bidvest Wits midfielder Deon Hotto says he will always appreciate all the good things his father has done for him.
"We'd start by kicking a ball around in the back garden," Hotto tells KickOff.com.
"All my strengths in my game are the ones dad taught me in the park. He would make me knock it in with both feet. I suppose you could say he was pushing me along.
"You'd also say though, that it was all I wanted to do and I was lucky that dad was so willing to do it with me.
"I would like to add that I applaud my dad for allowing me to follow my dreams. Not all parents would allow their kids to follow their own dreams since education is always a priority factor.
"From as young as I can remember, dad used take me up to the pitch and we would practise. I learnt a lot when I was a kid from my dad and all that practice paid off."
