Goalkeeper Denis Onyango's season with Mamelodi Sundowns could be over after he suffered an injury during the league match against SuperSport United in Tshwane on Wednesday.

Onyango was taken to hospital for further medical assessment after twisting his finger during the match against Matsatsantsa at Loftus Stadium.

The former Uganda national team captain was replaced in goal by defender Brian Onyango in the dying minutes of the game, which ended 3-1 in favour of Sundowns to clinch the league title.

The 36-year-old has since been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.

Onyango is vying for the goalkeeper of the year award in the PSL this season together with Veli Mothwa and Sifiso Mlungwana of AmaZulu and Golden Arrows respectively.

The former SuperSport United shot-stopper has kept 15 clean sheets for The Brazilians this season.
