The question on everybody's lips is, what will happen to the 2019/20 Absa Premiership trophy if the season cannot be completed? It has now been put forward that to even debate it would be wrong.
Unlike in the English Premier League where Liverpool were 24 points ahead of Manchester City before football was suspended, in South Africa the situation is very different.
League leaders Kaizer Chiefs were only four points ahead of Mamelodi Sundowns when PSL chairman Irvin Khoza announced the league's suspension, and The Brazilians also still had a game in hand.
Since mathematically Amakhosi could still be caught by a number of chasing teams, former Bafana Bafana winger Delron Buckley believes it would be wrong to entertain the debate about whether or not Ernst Middendorp's side should be awarded the title.
"Look, Kaizer Chiefs could be caught. Mathematically it's possible that they could be caught so I don't think it's fair because the other teams still have an opportunity," Buckley tells KickOff.com.
"Mamelodi Sundowns were playing CAF Champions League and obviously they have a couple of matches they haven't played, so it wouldn't be fair to give it to Chiefs.
"But at the same time, it would be unfair to not to give it to Chiefs because they've played well this season. Come next season we are not sure what is going to happen, there's going to be transfers happening.
"So I believe it's in the hands of SAFA because obviously they would know what they're doing but I think it would be unfair because I've seen in the UK, I think they are giving the title to Liverpool in the Premier League [if the season doesn't finish] because they can't be caught you know.
"I see that happening there but in our country it's obviously different with everything going on, so to speculate would be the wrong thing to do."
