After Delron Buckley landed a new exciting head coach role - here are 11 other Bafana Bafana stars who've moved into the dugout after retirement.

Buckley was one of the few South African talents to enjoy a prolonged career in Europe as he starred for 17 years playing in Germany and Switzerland before short stints in Cyprus in the PSL before retiring back in 2012 with Maritzburg United.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger then moved on into coaching and held roles first-team roles with AmaZulu and the Team of Choice as he secured his coaching badges along the way.

But after parting ways with his former club, the 73-time capped South Africa international has moved on for an exciting journey to develop UKZN football.

"The University has hired me to help the side be successful and win while playing top football at a high level," Buckley said upon his unveiling.

"Ultimately, they want UKZN to be the best university team in South Africa and if we reach that pinnacle that will be a huge achievement.

"I have to see how things go before making up my mind about any changes and start implementing on how I think development should operate."

His former national teammates Benni McCarthy and Quinton Fortune are among the others who've also moved into coaching as they are currently contracted to AmaZulu and Reading respectively.
