Ex-Kaizer Chiefs midfielder David Mathebula has been appointed joint-caretaker coach at a GladAfrica Championship club.
'DVD' will work alongside Phuthi Mohafe at Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila until a suitable replacement for Moma Medic is found following his sacking.
It is not the first time the 2011/12 KICK OFF Footballer of the Season is involved in coaching. After retiring he assisted Sello Chokoe as a player-coach at the Venda-based side during the 2018/19 season.
What followed that was a coaching role at Alexandra Black Aces in the ABC Motsepe League.
According to Chokoe who now works as TTM's CEO, the former Moroka Swallows star has a lot of potential when it comes to coaching.
"Yes, David Mathebula is back as an assistant coach," Chokoe tells KickOff.com.
"It's just until the end of the season. Ja I worked with him remember when I was still coach of the team. And you know I have seen a lot of potential in him as a coach.
"I'm the one who gave him a break into this coaching industry. It was an easy decision for me because I worked with him when I was there as the coach and he was assistant.
"Now we've got Phuthi as caretaker coach and although I'm running the team, I will also offer my expertise in terms of coaching to advise them, because they are both former players and not really students in this league.
"We don't want to rush to appoint a head coach now as we brought in David to come and help Phuthi. We will see how this combination works."
