The Chilli Boys started the season strongly but a nine-game winless run in the league leaves them just three points above the drop zone with six matches left.
Malesela's side next host NFD outfit Jomo Cosmos in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday (15h00).
“I’m not one who believes in bad luck or who believes in myths but I really have to find out what is wrong with the team because I don’t see too much that is wrong with the playing side. What I see is wrong is a bit of misfortune,” Malesela told the PSL's website after his team lost 1-0 to title contenders Kaizer Chiefs this past weekend.
“I’m basing this on the number of injuries we are getting at the club. Every week I have to move somebody through injury or something of the sort. Just when it looks like we are getting our full team, somebody gets injured. Unfortunately we have now lost [Buyile] Sali and it also looks like Justice Chabalala and Daniel Akpeyi might be out for the next game.
“But we just have to soldier on with what we have. I just have to find solutions to the challenges we are having.”
'Dance' felt his charges could have earned a point against Amakhosi at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
“I think, based on what I saw, we probably could have gotten a draw against Chiefs. They had the better of the first half in terms of chances and we came up with a solution of some sort and in the second half we really put pressure on them. I told the players the game would be decided by one goal.”
