Klate: Slow start is no surprise

Chippa, who unveiled over 10 players before the start of the new season, are second from bottom after three rounds of Absa Premiership matches, still searching for their first victory of the season.

They’ve lost two matches and drawn one, which is not the ideal start for the club, but Klate does not feel there is a need for them to press any panic buttons at this stage.

They’ve got some time to prepare for their next match against SuperSport United on August 29, following their 2-2 draw with topflight returnees Black Leopards over the weekend.

“Obviously it’s been a tough start, but I don’t think it’s a surprise. I think it’s a relatively new team that has been assembled,” Klate tells KickOff.com.

“We have to get the rhythm and flow going a little bit in the team. We have a lovely bunch of guys and once we start getting the momentum and rhythm into our play, we can do fairly well. We obviously can’t get ahead of ourselves, but the top eight would be first prize for the team this season.”
