Mokwena: Shalulile charged by Duracell

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach, Rulani Mokwena has heaped special praise on striker, Peter Shalulile for his excellent work ethic.

Shalulile, the DStv Premiership's top scorer last season, was again on the score-sheet for the Brazilians in a 2-0 win over title rivals Kaizer Chiefs at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday.

It was the Namibian international's first league goal of the campaign as Sundowns climbed to the top of the standings with seven points from a possible nine.

"This guy I think is charged by Duracell," Mokwena said post-match.

"But the reality is Peter is a team player where he sacrifices and puts his body on the line for the team.

"He knows that as it's what we said to him. We said as long as you are at the service of Mamelodi Sundowns, everything else will fall into place.

"We trust him like we trust every single player."

Shalulile recorded 15 league goals for Sundowns in his first season at Chloorkop but also provided crucial assists for teammates that saw him named the DStv Premiership Player of the Season last year.

"We know that it's not just in relation to goals and assists, but there is a lot more to Peter, as the movement to create space, to pull out defenders, the high press, the schemes sometimes are a little bit complicated and different but Peter gives us that.

"As long as he continues to do that. Maybe the best thing we can do is try to find the expensive cotton wool that we can wrap around him because he continues to run and run," Mokwena added.

Shalulile will be keen to continue with his scoring form when Mamelodi Sundowns next host TS Galaxy in a league encounter on Sunday.
