Larsen: I was given an ultimatum

Larsen stepped down as Phunya Sele Sele boss this morning, with Lehlohonolo Seema and Dunchan Lechesa taking over the reins in a caretaker capacity.

“There are two things that led to my resignation,” Larsen tells “The first one was results. We started very well so we did not win any of our last six matches and the club was concerned about poor results. So I was given an ultimatum to change an assistant coach or resign and I chose to resign.

“The club wanted to take a coach from development and make him my assistant coach while taking my assistant coach to the development and I was not going to allow that to happen. But whoever takes over as the coach will take over a very stable side because we have laid a very good foundation.”

Celtic are sixth on the Absa Premiership table with 16 points from 11 games.
