Chippa United win PSL promotion

United are back in South Africa's top tier after both Jomo Cosmos and Milano failed to achieve maximum points on Saturday. Cosmos were beaten 2-1 by Thanda Royal Zulu in KwaZulu-Natal while Milano played to a goalless draw against Maluti FET College in the Free State.

The Chilli Boys are set to travel to Mpumalanga to face Witbank Spurs but the game is now just a formality as the Cape Town-based club is already back in the big league.

"This is a great day for Chippa United. Credit should go to the players, technical team, management and the chairman for his vision and efforts to bring back the club to the PSL," says Heric.

"There is still a lot of work ahead and we will need to prepare very well for next season. We need to respect the games that are still remaining and start planning for next season."

The Serbian coach also revealed that his club is interested in retain defender Doctor Mampuru who is currently on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.

"He has played almost all the games. There is also Shai who is a very good player. They are on-loan to us but we would like to keep them next season," adds Heric.

Meanwhile former Orlando Pirates midfielder Mark Mayambela congratulated his home team Chippa United on their promotion.

"Congratulations to Chippa United for winning the NFD and getting automatic promotion to the PSL,weldone#Cape town football#," he tweeted.
