KickOff.com can reveal that Chippa United are on the verge of signing former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder is back in South Africa after a short stint with Mbabane Highlanders in Eswatini.

Sangweni is set to return to the Chilli Boys for a third stint after turning out for the club during and after his time with Sundowns and Pirates a few seasons ago.

Highlanders senior official Benson Dlamini has confirmed the possibility of the 31-year-old joining the Port Elizabeth side.

"There has been contact but the best people that can talk about it is the club [Highlanders] chairman and Chippa United," Dlamini tells KickOff.com.

"I believe he is already there [at Chippa]."

Chippa have already signed Anthony Laffor and Ayabulela Konqobe as coach Dan Malesela, another who has returned to the club, looks to make his mark again.
