Information reaching this website from Uganda is that Emmanuel Okwi will be monitored closely when Uganda play neighbours Kenya on Thursday, before hosting Mali on Monday.

What has ignited Chippa’s interest is that Okwi is available as a free agent, having last been on the books of Egyptian club El Ittihad.

Okwi was previously linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs three years ago, with the deal failing to materialise after personal terms couldn’t be agreed.

The Ugandan is versatile as an attacker being able to play anywhere across the frontline. With former club, Simba also said to be keen on resigning him.

The 29-year-old has previously featured in countries such as Uganda, Tanzania, Denmark, Tunisia and Egypt.

Chippa have so far used his fellow countryman Ismail Watenga (Uganda), Riaan Hanamub (Namibia) and Bienvenu Eva Nga (Cameroon) in their foreign player list, with the exit of Aboubacar Sangare (Mali) opening up a foreign spot.
