DStv Premiership strugglers Chippa United look set to strengthen their squad after in-demand defender Tebogo Makobela was spotted at first-team training recently.

The former Black Leopards defender is believed to be close to a return to Chippa to reinforce the club's leaky defence.

Makobela departed the Eastern Cape-based side around two seasons ago to join Black Leopards before the club was relegated to the GladAfrica Championship.

The Limpopo-born defender was believed to have been training at fellow DStv Premiership side Sekhukhune United at the start of this season.

According to sources close to the Chilli Boys, Makobela is set to sign with the club as they prepare to strengthen their squad in the January window.

"Tebogo Makobela is training with Chippa," a source reveals to Kickoff.com.

"He did well when was there before that horrific injury he sustained during a match against Kaizer Chiefs.

"He is back now and looks set to sign.

The Chilli Boys have recently promoted Kurt Lentjies as caretaker coach after suspending head coach Gavin Hunt due to poor results.
