Hunt unveils 16 new Chippa signings

Chippa United head coach Gavin Hunt has unveiled 16 new signings in a major squad overhaul ahead of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership campaign.

After finishing 15th last season, the Chili Boys secured their top-flight status during a playoff campaign shrouded in controversy alongside Richards Bay as Royal AM failed to honour their scheduled fixtures.

Hunt joined the Gqeberha-based side during the off-season following his high-profile departure from Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.

The four-time league winner now seems to be making his intentions clear with a major squad overhaul and new-look technical team.

While the likes of Azola Matrose, Jenovane September and Kewen Prince have been snapped up by local clubs, the Chili Boys have made their intentions clear with Phakamani Mahlambi (loan), Sammy Seabi and Siphesihle Mkhize all arriving from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Namibia defender Lubeni Haukongo also arrives after a stint with Ligue 1 champions Lille, while Hunt has opted for experienced campaigners like Rodney Ramagalela and Mogakolodi Ngele to add fire-power up front.

The club also unveiled their new kits for the upcoming season ahead of their league opener against Sekhukhune United on Saturday afternoon at the Makhulong Stadium. (15h00)
