Chippa need only a point from their remaining four games to claim National First Division honours, which they can do this Sunday when they visit Witbank Spurs at the Puma Rugby Stadium.
And Chilli Boys CEO Peter Koutroulis is naturally eager to get the job done so they can begin their preparations for next season.
“We just need to rubber stamp our promotion by getting a point on Sunday and then officially start preparing for life back in the PSL,” Koutroulis tells KickOff.com.
“It will be of great help to us if we seal our promotion this weekend because that will give us all the time we need in the world to start preparing for the PSL.
“Remember there is a huge difference between the first division and the PSL so the more time we get to prepare the better for us because we want to go back to the PSL to stay forever instead of dropping down again. What I know is that we will make it work this time around and I am glad that we have a chairman (Siviwe Mpengesi) who understands what it takes to be a PSL team. He is a man with a dream.
“With more time to prepare it makes it fair for us as a club to give enough time for players that we will not need anymore to get clubs elsewhere while we will also have enough time to strengthen our squad. We have to sign the right players to help us stay in the PSL and I am not afraid to declare that we are positive of the future,” says Koutroulis.
The issue of time is especially relevant to Chippa. The last time they sealed their promotion five weeks before the start of the PSL season after having to negotiate a laborious promotion/relegation play-off route that saw them contest their final match on June 30, 2012.
“This is why I am making so much emphasis about time because not only do players need to get rest but we also need to assemble a squad that will then do a complete pre-season as a full team,” adds Koutroulis.
Meanwhile, Chippa have in recent weeks parted ways with Rudiger Gilbert who is now at Milano United.
