Chippa United coach Clinton Larsen is banking on the return of three stars ahead of his side’s final 2018/19 Absa Premiership match against Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.
The Chilli Boys boosted their chances of surviving with a convincing 3-1 victory over Polokwane City this past weekend and now need a victory over Amakhosi to ensure they have a spot in the top flight next season.
Larsen’s men host Nedbank Cup finalists Amakhosi at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday, hoping to have the services of Andile Mbenyane, Thabo Rakhale and Freddie Nsabiyumva.
“We’ve been hard hit with injuries and suspensions. Komane has been out with suspension, Freddie Nsabiyumva has been out injured, Rakhale has been one of our star players, he’s out injured. Andile Mbenyane has been banging in the goals, he’s out injured,” Larsen said after the game.
“There’s a good chance that all three of them will be available for the game against Kaizer Chiefs and that will give me a nice headache for that last game.”
Chippa are in 13th place on the standings, just a point ahead of bottom of the table Maritzburg United, so they know that there is no room for error going into the final day of the season on Saturday.
