'Chiefs should stick with in-form goalkeeper'

Kaizer Chiefs legend Wade Du Plessis believes it would not make sense to replace incumbent goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi with Itumeleng Khune.

Du Plessis, who kept goals for the Glamour Boys during their glory days, believes it would be suicidal for Stuart Baxter to try to fix what is not broken, and insists Akpeyi who was at the Afcon with Nigeria should continue in goals.

"You stick with the in-form goalkeeper that's it, simple," Du Plessis tells KickOff.

"I know Khune's been doing well in this little competition that just passed but it was an international break, and whoever was in goals before then was performing, should remain in goals.

"Khune should just wait, there are only two things that happen to goalkeepers, they lose form or get injured.

"I know Khune is Khune, but the Nigerian was playing up until before the Afcon, he basically had the number one jersey, and should retain it.

"You can't punish a guy who is in form and went to represent his country. You can't punish him for sitting on the bench for his country."
