Chiefs miss out on potential transfer target

Kaizer Chiefs have withdrawn their interest after being priced out of a potential transfer target as the Soweto giants plan for next season.

Amakhosi were reportedly closing in on Cape Town Spurs defender Rushwin Dortley.

A potential transfer has hit a snag due to an exorbitant asking price forcing Chiefs to pull out of negotiations.

The 19-year-old has been a star for the Urban Warriors in the GladAfrica Champions this season with 17 appearances this season.

Speaking to this publication, Spurs Ceo Alexi Efstathiou revealed that the young left-back's move to Naturena has stalled.

"I don't think it's happening at this stage, no," Efstathiou tells KickOff.

"I think we have failed to agree on a transfer fee. We have two clubs interested in Europe, so you can imagine what the fee was.

"One is from Belgium, and the other one is possibly from France in the second division.

"The player is not disappointed though, he's got the character he knows the club will do the best for him.

"He's been with us since he was young."
