Cape Town City on Friday confirmed the signing of Zimbabwe youth international striker Douglas Mapfumo from Legends Academy.
Mapfumo has been handed the chance to resurrect his career in Cape Town, that came to an abrupt halt when Bidvest Wits' top-flight status was sold to Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) last year.

The 21-year-old looked set to be snapped up by then-coach Gavin Hunt before Wits' sale resulted in a loan move to Cape United in the GladAfrica Championship.
The highly-rated striker has now secured a three-year deal with the Citizens and adds competition for places alongside Fagrie Lakay, Tashreeq Morris and Khanyisa Mayo.
"City is delighted to announce the signing of forward Douglas Mapfumo," the club statement read. "The 21-year-old centre-forward joins after spending a season on loan with Cape Umoya United."
He becomes the eighth new arrival at the Citizens ahead of the new season as the club looks to challenge for silverware under in the 2021/22 season.
