Zulu moves ahead of big PSL transfer

Cape Town City are set to sign a hot Zambian prospect from Zanaco, according to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

The Absa Premiership side is set to announce the signing of 24-year-old midfielder Charles Zulu ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Zanaco have already informed the FAZ of the player's imminent departure to South Africa.

"The club made the announcement last week," FAZ media officer Sydney Mungala tells KickOff.com.

"He is a winger that mostly operates from the left and uses both feet. He is quick and does not shy away from taking on defenders directly. He is one of the players that Zambia was banking on for the CHAN campaign. He helped the team qualify.

"It is a good move for the player, especially that it offers a more competitive environment. While we always hope that we should have more exports beyond Africa, we are also conscious that the PSL offers opportunities to trek into Europe."

Zulu, who has 12 caps for Zambia, has previously tried his luck in Spain and France on different trials without success.

It is not yet clear how many seasons the winger has signed for, with City chairman John Comitis unable to be reached as his phone rang unanswered.
