City eye two foreign strikers

City are likely to lose Lehlohonolo Majoro at the end of the season and are looking to bring in new strikers to bolster their squad. Majoro is linked with both Supersport United and Bidvest Wits and could sign a pre-contract with either side.

City coach Benni McCarthy has also spoken about wanting a goal scorer for his side, with Victor Obinna struggling to make a mark in the local league at the moment.

City chairman John Comitis has recently said they’ll be looking at bringing in two foreigners in January transfer window but did not want reveal the names of the players.

“I can confirm to you that Richards Arthur is most likely to sign with Cape Town City,” a source tells

“It is not only him City are interested in. They are also interested in Elias Maguri who is Tanzanian striker and has scored six goals in 18 appearances for his national team.”

The 26-year-old Maguri is currently a free agent. He has previously played for Ruvu Shooting, Simba SC, Stand United and Dhofar Club in Tanzania.

Arthur, 22, joined GB Interclube in Angolan League on the two-year deal from his homeland Wa All Stars. He scored eight goals in 12 appearances as they finished fifth and was named club's player of the year.
