Former Bidvest Wits defender Buhle Mkhwanazi is reportedly being courted by Orlando Pirates with the view to joining the club this season.
Pirates are currently searching for another defender to bolster their squad having relied on two centre-backs in Ntsikelelo Nyauza and Thulani Hlatshwayo so far, with Happy Jele also able to play there.
KickOff.com has since gathered that there have been talks between Pirates and Mkhwanazi but the stumbling blocks in the 30-year-old's move to Mayfair are his salary demands and bonuses.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns defender is understood to have been earning in the region of R4-million to R5-million per season at Wits, including annual signing-on fees.
"There have been discussions between Pirates and Mkhwanazi but the stumbling block so far is his salary and signing-on fees that he was getting at Bidvest Wits," reveals a source close to the matter.
"That's the situation at the moment and Pirates would have signed him a long time ago [if they had agreed], even before the MTN8 final."
Contacted for comment, Mkhwanazi's representative Keegan Wasserfall of Siyavuma Sports Group says: "There's absolutely no truth to it."
