KickOff.com can confirm that Kenyan defender Brian Onyango is back at Maritzburg United.
Former captain Onyango left the Team of Choice at the end of last season after his contract was not renewed.
The Kenyan, who was sidelined for a long time through injury, was earlier linked with a move to Orlando Pirates but a deal did not materialise.
Onyango is now back in Eric Tinkler's squad with the view to winning a new contract with the club.
"Brian Onyango is back and training with the club," a close source tells KickOff.com.
"At the moment the club is still assessing his fitness following his long-term injury sustained before he left the country."
The 25-year-old went home to Kenya during the off-season but is back in South Africa and hoping to pick up his career where he left off.
