Swallows FC coach Brandon Truter has highlighted their contrasting objectives in Wednesday's Soweto Derby against a low-ranking Kaizer Chiefs.
Swallows, currently in fifth position on the DStv Premiership table, visit Chiefs in a crunch league encounter as the curtain begins to fall on the 2020/21 season.
The Dube Birds, though looking for only their second win in 15 games, are 11 points ahead of ninth-placed Amakhosi, who have endured endless struggles thus far.
Truter has admitted that, while it is "a special game" against the Soweto giants, their contrasting objectives at this stage of the campaign means neither team can afford to drop points.
"It is a special game, people will sit up and look at it. As much as Chiefs need a win, so do we," Truter told the club's media.
"With us, I wouldn't say any special preparation but mental prep is more important for us at this stage, if you look at our amount of draws, we need the win just as much.
"Of course, we've got different objectives, they want to get into the top eight; we want to get into spots for Africa or finish as high as possible in our first season.
"So, ja, Chiefs are a special team with special players, definitely, that can change the game, and we have to be mindful of those players.
"It is their home game, they will have to win, come out and open up but we know what to expect from Chiefs and we know their key players, so we'll plan accordingly."
