Petersen breaks silence on Chiefs

Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen is ready to focus on the next step of his soccer career after failing to sign for Kaizer Chiefs.

Petersen, Sifiso Hlanti and Phathutshedzo Nange had been training with Amakhosi for the past few weeks in the hope of signing deals.

However, no moves have materialised after Amakhosi lost their appeal with CAS and remain banned from registering any new players until July 2021.

Hlanti has since joined Swallows FC while the futures of Petersen and Nange remain uncertain following the latest developments.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper remains grateful for the opportunity to train with Chiefs even though could not sign for the Phefeni Glamour Boys.

"Going there, there was never any certainty and you can't be disappointed. It's football," Petersen tells

"You know football is a funny game. One day you are here and the next day you are there. The only thing you can do is to remain focused and the rest will take care of itself."

The Cape Town-born shot-stopper says he is currently focusing on his rehabilitation before he can decide his next move.

"I have three weeks to go before I could return to playing football. For now I am focusing to complete my rehabilitation," he explains.

"My manager is busy working on something for me. For now there is nothing concrete. My main aim is to get myself 100 percent fit and then I can take it from there.

"Personally there is no rush, just one step at a time and just focusing on doing my rehab, and done properly, and then I will take it from there."
