Masangane arrested with 5kg dagga

Former Black Leopards defender Bongani Masangane has been arrested after being found in possession of dagga in Eswatini.

Masangane, 42, played for Leopards between 2003 and 2005 before relocating back to Eswatini to play for Mbabane Highlanders.

'Ndezi' also played for his national team Sihlangu Semnikati in his football career.

According to a report carried by Swazi Observer, Masangane was arrested after going to the police in possession of five kilograms of dagga and demanding to be given a trading licence for the banned substance.

"Information gathered is to the effect that the former defender was arrested on Monday at the Manzini Police Station. A source close to the matter revealed that 'Ndezi' surprised many when he stormed into the Manzini Police Station, carrying 5kg of dagga and demanded a trading licence from the police officers who were on duty," reads part of the report.

​Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Phindile Vilakati confirmed the arrest of the former Lidoda Duvha player.

​"Yes, it is true that 'Ndezi' Masangane was arrested by the Manzini police on Monday for possession of dagga. However, I am not sure if he has already appeared before court," Vilakati told the publication.
