Log leaders Wits are set to welcome The Lions of The North to the Bidvest Stadium on Friday evening, as they look to maintain their standing by the end of the weekend.
With the Soweto Derby taking centre stage, Wits could end both Kaizer Chiefs' and Orlando Pirates’ hopes of going top if they are to overcome the top-flight returnees.
But Monare is fully aware that this is easier said than done and expects a gritty affair against Owen da Gama’s outfit who have proven to be no pushovers this season – suffering only one defeat in their eight matches thus far.
“It’s a dangerous game. Highlands are no pushovers and will come out to frustrate us in our own back yard,” Monare tells KickOff.com.
“They have done well so far this season and will come with added motivation to beat us because we are the log leaders.
“We have to match them for passion and hunger on the pitch. It will be tough to beat them tactically, so we have to be ready for a fight and try to break them down.
“It will be a similar game to the one against Free State Stars [in the Telkom Knockout].”
The Clever Boys are currently one point ahead of second-placed Pirates and two ahead of Chiefs, though they have also played one less game at the present stage.
